To receive grant funds under the Digital Cinema Trust (DCT) Grant Program, a project must receive the Utah-Made designation. Even if a project is in early development, to qualify for the Utah-Made designation, a project proposal must satisfy at least two (2) of the following six qualifying features:
- Utah-Based Creative Leadership The Director, majority-stake Producer, Writer, or at least one Key Cast Member is a permanent resident of the State of Utah.
- Utah-Based Co-Production Company At least one Production Company is permanently headquartered and conducting ongoing operations in Utah, and at least one key partner from that company holds an executive role on the project (e.g., Executive Producer, Producer).
- Utah-Based Production Services The project’s primary Production Services Company (e.g., physical production company providing production services for a majority of the production schedule) is permanently headquartered and actively operating in Utah.
- Utah-Based Distribution The project’s primary Distribution Company is permanently headquartered and conducting ongoing business in Utah.
- Filming Location The film or series is principally photographed in Utah. The percentage of the project filmed within the State of Utah shall determine the maximum percentage of the total production budget eligible for DCT funding consideration.
- Utah-Based Technology Innovation The film or series is significantly comprised of, made from, or executed on a technology innovation of a company permanently headquartered and conducting ongoing business in Utah.
